Kathryn S. Seabolt, Attorney
| |
Kathryn Seabolt returned to law school with the specific desire to practice trusts and estates law, after an executive-level corporate career with AT&T. At the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University, she concentrated her studies on Wills and Trusts law, with a focus on estate planning for individuals, families, and business owners. She conducted extensive independent study on the history of wills and trusts, and gained additional expertise through a research assistantship dedicated to current developments in Wills law. Kathy organized her legal education around the skills training required for effective client counseling, competing successfully for the law school in various counseling competitions, and she earned an advanced certificate in legal writing and drafting.
While in law school, Kathy also went to work in the local Probate Court, serving as a judicial intern assigned to research Georgia trusts and estates case law and statutory changes. More importantly, she was tutored by the presiding judge and his staff to place the family first when processing probate matters, and she learned by example how simple kindness-- and simple explanations--can relieve anxiety after the loss of a loved one.
She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Georgia Bar Association, the Trusts and Estates Section of the Atlanta Bar Association, and the Sandy Springs Bar Association. She is licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of Georgia, and has been admitted to the Northern District Court of Georgia.
Kathy graduated from the University of Georgia summa cum laude, where she was the first honor graduate of the Henry Grady School and received numerous awards for campus leadership and philanthropy. Over the course of her business career, Kathy has served on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations, and she has led countless volunteer fundraising and community project initiatives. A long-time church leader, she is particularly devoted to children’s charities, and has been a Big Sister to the same special child for the past nine years.
